Founded in the 1880s by Jules Baud, Julbo began as a company that specialized in optical lenses along with chain accessories and neck chords and the like.  As time went on, Julbo began focusing on Sunglasses and became a sunglass company in the 1950s.

Julbo is famous for their mountaineering sunglasses.  They were the first to offer sunglasses specifically designed for the mountain climber.  The model that started the whole thing off was the Vermont Round.  The company is still based in Morez, France where Jules Baud first started his company.  Julbo Sunglasses were introduced to the United States in the 1970s.

Julbo Sunglasses are designed for extreme conditions.  There lenses provide excellent optical quality and scratch resistance.  They are manufactured with heat hardening to reinforce shock resistant qualities.  A vacuum treatment uses an evaporation system for mirror and anti-reflective coatings.

Julbo has expanded to include high quality, premium clothing lines and sunglasses for men, women, children and babies.

Because of their dark lenses and mysterious look, many celebrities have taken a liking to Julbo Sunglasses, including Janet Jackson and George Clooney.  Professional athletes like skier Bode Miller are also fond of Julbo Sunglasses.
