Not able to afford the normal route of renting an expensive show room, Cole wanted to park a forty foot trailer truck filled with 40,000 shoes and sell them out from the back of the truck.  Come to find out, only film production companies making feature length films were allowed permits.  So, Cole changed the name of the company to Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. and parked at 1370 6th Avenue, across from the New York Hilton, the day of shoe show.

He had a director (Sometimes there was film in the camera, sometimes there wasn't), models as actresses, and two of New York's finest, compliments of Mayor Koch, as doormen.  He sold every single shoe and the rest is history.
