Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. (JNJ), headquartered in New Brunswick, New Jersey, is an international manufacturer of medical devices, pharmaceutical devices and health care products. Established in 1885 to design a line of ready-to-use surgical dressings, Johnson & Johnson has grown to be one of the leading providers of health care products in the world.

Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. operates through three separate divisions: Consumer, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MDD).

The consumer division produces and promotes a wide range of products all over the world for an extensive range of customers, including products for baby and child care, skin care, oral and wound care and woman's health care fields, as well as over-the-counter pharmaceutical and nutritional products. These products are chiefly marketed towards the general public; and sold to wholesalers, and directly to independent and chain retail outlets worldwide.

The pharmaceutical division franchises offers products in the anti-fungal, anti-infective, cardiovascular, contraceptive, dermatology, gastrointestinal, hematology, immunology, neurology, oncology, pain management, psychotropic, and urology fields. These products are distributed directly, and through wholesalers and health care professionals for use by prescription by the general public.

The MDD division offers a range of products, including wound care and women's health products; surgical products; circulatory disease management products; blood glucose monitoring products; professional diagnostic products; orthopedic joint reconstruction, spinal, and sports medicine products; and Disposable contact lenses.

Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. entered the contact lens business in 1981 with the purchase of Frontier Contact Lenses, now known as Vistakon - a Division of Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. is the creator of Acuvue Brand Soft Disposable Contact Lenses, the world's first disposable soft contact lens and the world's number one prescribed contact lens.

With a work force of roughly 2,500 people, Vistakon offers a wide range of Acuvue Brand contact lenses to meet the vision requirements of patients in over 70 countries worldwide. Acuvue Brand Disposable Contact Lenses are known for their superior comfort, protection and visual acuity.

For patients needing general vision correction, Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. offers Acuvue, Acuvue 2, Acuvue Advance, Acuvue Oasys and One Day Acuvue contact lenses.

For patients looking to alter the color of their eyes, Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. offers Acuvue 2 Colours. Acuvue 2 Colour lenses come in two versions: Acuvue 2 Colours Enhancers to enhance the color of light eyes and Acuvue 2 Colours Opaque lenses to change the color of dark eyes.

Astigmatic patients can wear Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism or Acuvue Toric contact lenses, and for patients suffering from Presbyopia, there are Acuvue Bifocal lenses available.
